Sports Accident Insurance

If you are a keen amateur sportsperson, then it may be very beneficial to you to take out sports accident insurance, most insurance companies offer policies from as little as £4.95 per month.

The level of cover (as with any insurance) is determined by the amount you pay per month, but even with the most basic policy, you can expect to receive money towards; your families travel expenses, if they have to visit you in hospital, money towards any, hospital/dental treatment, or physiotherapy you may need.

The more comprehensive cover may also pay out, if you have loss of earnings, from a sports related injury.

These policies are only for amateur sportspersons, semi-professionals, will need to take out a more extensive cover policy.

Exclusions

Most policies will not accept claims if:

  • The policy holder was not wearing the correct protective equipment, at the time that the injury occurred. (for example; not wearing a gum shield, whilst playing a contact sport)
  • Where the injury occurred before the policy was taken out.
  • Where the injury occurred, whilst the policy holder was under the effects of any drug (including alcohol).
