What does mycancerdrugs cover?

This option covers advanced cancer drugs that are not available on the NHS and the costs of administering these within the NHS or private sector (your local NHS may not allow you to top-up your NHS treatment with privately-funded cancer drugs).  A lifetime benefit of up to £50,000 is provided.

This option is not available to those who:

  • Have had, or at the time of application have, cancer or symptoms of cancer;

Cosmetic surgery

Costmetic surgery is an option that funds the cost of treatment for reconstructive plastic surgery, from the highly regarded experts of BAAPS (British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons), to help improve damaged looks and rebuild confidence following a serious accident or injury.

There are 3 cosmetic surgery options

  • Option 1: Cover for treatment costs up to £20,000 for upper body surgery (face, neck, arms and breast)
  • Option 2: Cover for treatment costs up to £20,000 for lower body surgery (stomach and legs)

*Surgery on hands and feet is excluded from cover.

What does A&E Abroad cover?

Accident and Emergency Abroad provides emergency hospital cover anywhere in the world except for the USA and countries which the UK government advises against travelling to. It also covers the additional costs of emergency hospital treatment not covered by a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).

Health Top-Up exclusions

General policy exclusions of the Health Top-Up plan include:

  • Any pre-existing medical conditions (excluding optical or dental)
  • Any chronic conditions (long-term illnesses that require long-term monitoring or management)
  • Any injuries caused by winter/extreme and professional sports
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Childbirth, fertility or neonatal

Qualifying Periods

With Wellness cover, there is a 10 month qualifying period (from the policy start date) for maternity/paternity benefit, 6 months for health screening and 1 month for all other benefits, with the exception of A&E attendance and telephone support. There is also a 1 month qualifying period for Cosmetic Surgery cover.

Claims can only be made once the relevant qualifying period has expired.

The mycancerdrugs option has a 90 day deferment period, which means any cancers diagnosed during this time are not covered.

Child cover

Policyholders can protect their children (under the age of 18) by adding them to their health plan for half the adult premium (per child). Children receive the same benefits as adults, with the exception of maternity/paternity cover.
