Financial Services > Health lnsurance > WPA Cash Plan
WPA is an award-winning UK health insurance provider. The company offers a range of health plans, including individual and family medical insurance, company medical insurance, health cover for professionals and dental insurance plans.
Affordable cover complementing the NHS. The Wellness plan is standard, and then you can tailor your cover.
Health Top-Up from WPA is an affordable health cash plan that is designed to supplement the free service people receive from the NHS. It works by providing cash to cover unexpected and potentially expensive costs of additional treatment/services, such as prescription charges, emergency treatment whilst abroad, cosmetic surgery after an accident, dental and optical treatment and specialist cancer drugs.
Health Top-Up consists of standard core cover called Wellness, which provides cash to help with everyday healthcare costs and the extra costs of hospital admission.
Customers can upgrade their Health Top-Up plan by adding one or more of the following options:
This option covers advanced cancer drugs that are not available on the NHS and the costs of administering these within the NHS or private sector (your local NHS may not allow you to top-up your NHS treatment with privately-funded cancer drugs). A lifetime benefit of up to £50,000 is provided.
Costmetic surgery is an option that funds the cost of treatment for reconstructive plastic surgery, from the highly regarded experts of BAAPS (British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons), to help improve damaged looks and rebuild confidence following a serious accident or injury.
*Surgery on hands and feet is excluded from cover.
Accident and Emergency Abroad provides emergency hospital cover anywhere in the world except for the USA and countries which the UK government advises against travelling to. It also covers the additional costs of emergency hospital treatment not covered by a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).
* Injuries sustained from winter/extreme and professional sports are not covered.
A legal advice helpline is provided by fully qualified legal advisors to help customers understand their rights, in the event that the result of their treatment was not what they expected.
General policy exclusions of the Health Top-Up plan include:
With Wellness cover, there is a 10 month qualifying period (from the policy start date) for maternity/paternity benefit, 6 months for health screening and 1 month for all other benefits, with the exception of A&E attendance and telephone support. There is also a 1 month qualifying period for Cosmetic Surgery cover.
Claims can only be made once the relevant qualifying period has expired.
The mycancerdrugs option has a 90 day deferment period, which means any cancers diagnosed during this time are not covered.
Policyholders can protect their children (under the age of 18) by adding them to their health plan for half the adult premium (per child). Children receive the same benefits as adults, with the exception of maternity/paternity cover.
