Providing health insurance for your employees is becoming more and more expensive, and yet many employers still value it very highly. Employers think that this benefit is key to retaining and attracting employees, and also believe that it is their right to share in the costs of health insurance .
The results come from a study conducted by the Commonwealth Fund, a foundation that supports both health and social research. They found that over 90 per cent of the companies surveyed indicated that health insurance was somewhat or very important in retaining and also attracting qualified employees.
Employers also showed their willingness to adapt to new insurance options to expand the health coverage that they offer to employees. The study, conducted in America, surveyed almost 3000 employers with an overall response rate of just under 50 per cent.
The study has resonance for the English employer health insurance system.
