US citizens losing their confidence in health insurance

Thu, 26 Oct 2006

Surging private health insurance costs in America this year have led to frustration and confusion amongst the American people . According to one new survey, over 50 per cent of people are now dissatisfied with the health insurance situation.

The study, entitled the annual Health Confidence Study, was conducted by the Employee Benefit Research Institute and indicates widespread discontent. Costs have apparently risen, affecting many of the surveyed people’s retirement plans and monthly budget .

The vast bulk of those surveyed thought that employer -sponsored health insurance was a major benefit. Experts in the USA are questioning the ratios between increasing costs and increasing health care reimbursement to providers. They claim that deductibles and other extra costs mean that insurance companies and intermediaries are making major money from American health insurance customers.

The news follows recent UK reports that government age data protection laws could dramatically influence or even end employer sponsored health insurance.
