Tesco, the supermarket giant known for their expansive policies and sideways movement into the financial services industry are now set to enter the private medical insurance market.
The largest supermarket chain in the country is going to offer insurance policies to customers, in a partnership with AXA PPP healthcare . The move into this sector of the insurance industry mirrors similar moves by other supermarket chains. For instance, ASDA have recently ended their life insurance partnership with Scottish Widows .
Tesco Personal Finance will sell the products, and they will accompany the range of insurance and banking products for individuals and small businesses, including life insurance products.
Tesco are likely to release a range of in-store products to appeal to a variety of different shoppers, varying from basic to high-end cover. Tesco declined to comment, but an official launch is expected for December.
