Boots, the successful chemist and pharmacy chain, is set to begin selling private medical insurance in all of its 1,500 Boots shops. Prudential insurance (PruHealth) will provide the policies, which will be priced at a competitive rate.
Boots have conducted research into the health insurance market, finding that 80 per cent of people don’t take out private health insurance because of the cost, and 36 per cent more would if they thought their health insurance was competitive. The medical insurance is bring offered as part of the Boots Health Club .
Boots Health Club is a rewards scheme that offers its 1.5 million member advice, money off and information. Those people who sign up to the health club before October will receive half-price health insurance premiums. Customers can then claim Vitality points and take advantage of substantial no claim bonuses on their policy premiums.
The Boots PMI cover will come in several levels, and provide all the benefits of private medical insurance from major companies.
