According to a recent survey by the British Heart Foundation, busy lifestyles with little exercise causes one death every fifteen minutes. For both those who have health insurance and those who rely on the NHS, the news is serious.
The findings were revealed by a YouGov poll carried out on behalf of the BHF. They found that approximately 1/3rd of people aged 50-64 have no time at all to exercise . Simply simply taking 30 minutes of exercise every day, the BHF say, could prevent the deaths.
The BHF are launching a healthcare campaign called ’30 A Day’ that encourages people to exercise daily, particularly those aged over 50. The charity argues that our ageing population needs to make certain their health stays strong in later life.
Mike Knapton, the director of prevention and care at the BHF, reputedly commented: These deaths are avoidable and the solution is simple and achievable. We can all make excuses, but at the end of the day it's up to individuals to make the change, to get up and to get active .
