Adequate health insurance lacking for many Americans

Wed, 08 Aug 2007

According to new findings by the Consumer Reports Organisation, only 40 per cent of American people have adequate health insurance . A growing body of evidence now indicates that the private health insurance situation in America is obsolete.

Recent calls from physicians and nurses asked for a total recall on private medical insurance . The physicians for National Health Program (15,000 people) and the California Nurses Association/ National Nurses Organising Committee (75,000 people) made the claims.

They reportedly commented: "A single-payer style Medicare for all bill, HR 676 - that would finally eliminate Americans' financial worries associated with un-payable medical bills, is the only health reform proposal that is proven to work."

The president of the CAN/NNOC, Deborah Burger, reportedly commented: "Our healthcare system is disintegrating. Rather than providing comfort and security for American families, it is causing financial distress and forcing far too many people to postpone needed medical care due to cost."
