Almost 50 million Americans lack health insurance

Thu, 30 Aug 2007

A fresh report by the US Census Bureau reveals this week that despite increases in household income and a decreasing poverty rate, the number of American people who lack health insurance cover has climbed to 47 million.

The report specialised in income, poverty and the health insurance situation in the United States, drawing on information from several surveys, including the 2007 current population survey.

The report is having a heavy influence in the political sphere. The idea of children lacking health insurance is spurring much of the country into opinion, and it is thought to be the key to success at the next election.

The number of people with medical insurance cover also climbed from 249 million to 249.8 million.
