More for dental insurance as access windows close

Mon, 03 Dec 2007

More and more people will now have little option but to seek dental healthcare privately or choose dental health insurance to cover their dental needs, due to even less access to National Health Service dentists .

Around 250,000 more people have lost their access to NHS dentistry since government reforms last year. The number of patients seen by NHS dentists in England slid by a significant figure in the last year.

The Department of Health recently issued confirmation that as many as two million people wanted to use NHS dentists but were unable to be treated without seeing a private dentist .

Government changes could, therefore, be seen to be failing, driving thousands more to seek private health insurance policies to ensure their dental cover .
