Health insurance company survey reveals alarming trend

Mon, 09 Jul 2007

The state of health amongst British people could be much worse than they think, according to a new study by health insurance company BUPA, and health company Fitness First.

The combined survey found that Brits are ‘in denial’ about having a poor state of health. Apparently, despite believing that they are relatively healthy, over half surveyed do less than recommended levels of exercise . These currently stand at around 30 minutes, five times per week. As many as 12 millions people in the UK do no exercise at all.

The survey questioned British people on a whole variety of health aspects. These included their stress levels, smoking habits, alcohol consumptions, fitness and diet . Whether those who have private health insurance are healthier than those who rely on the National Health Service remains to be seen.
