Those UK consumers who wouldn’t normally purchase private medical insurance policies could find new gym membership deals offered by one health insurance company a tempting bonus .
A new PruHealth deal has been struck with numerous private gyms, including Cannons and La Fitness. Policyholders of PruHealth medical insurance won’t have to pay at all at these gyms. At other top gyms, include Virgin and Holmes Place, policyholders will pay just £5 per month.
One expert, George Connoll of HealthCareMatters, a specialist health insurance intermediary, reportedly commented: PruHealth's innovative policy has certainly opened up this market to those who would normally not have bought medical insurance. But this is a complex product that people need to look at carefully. We have had policyholders in their 60s who have bought this policy. Because they keep themselves fit and healthy the cost is considerably less than what they would pay on a conventional medical insurance policy.
