No health insurance protection for one in three families

Wed, 11 Jul 2007

According to insurance provider Bright Grey as many as one out of every three families within the UK are surviving without life insurance, income protection insurance or critical illness insurance .

Each of these products fulfils a different role. Critical illness cover pays a lump sum whilst income protection pays out monthly. The sales chief at Bright Grey, Kevin Stevens, pointed out that many Brits may not appreciate the importance of protecting your family in event of a health crisis or more serious problem.

Many people who choose insurance only cover their mortgage, without protecting their other assets. Mr. Stevens reportedly commented: "Many of those parents who don't have cover don’t even know they're leaving their families at risk."
