Major health insurance scam in America

Mon, 04 Jun 2007

According to reports from America, a health insurance company has been defrauded to the tune of $300,000. Four people billed the private medical insurance firm for 20 separate brain operations, none of which were ever performed.

At the heart of the investigation, a 36-year old man, who remains at large, claimed nine brain surgeries for himself. Other individuals from the same area defrauded the insurance company, the federal court alleged.

Although three of the guilty parties are now in custody, the fourth man is yet to be apprehended. It is thought that the man was an employee at a medical billing company, and altered legitimate claims made to the insurance company. GHI, the company defrauded, picked up on the strange claims.
