Health costs put women off

Mon, 12 Mar 2007

According to a recent study conducted by PruHealth, a well-known health insurance and private medical insurance company, have revealed that up to 40 per cent of women do not have medical screening tests because of how much money it costs.

Furthermore, PruHealth revealed that four in every five women have never attended a full body health screening. This type of healthcare checkup can reveal problems such as breast cancer and heart disease.

Nick Read, speaking on behalf of PruHealth, reportedly commented: "People are putting themselves at risk by not having a regular check-up and full body health screen. Preventative methods like these can pick up early signs of chronic diseases. Early diagnosis can result in faster and more effective treatment."

Currently, women under 50 are only able to have full health screenings conducted privately or if they are covered by medical insurance . PruHealth is offering its members discounts from a number of private hospitals around the country.
