Cancerbackup have reiterated recent calls from Macmillan Cancer Support that patients with cancer are being treated unfairly by insurance companies who sell travel insurance .
The charity voiced their disapproval with the trade association ABI (Association of British Insurers) attempts to justify current policies. Joanne Rule, the chief executive of Cancerbackup, reportedly commented: MCS research reinforces what Cancerbackup found last year- many cancer patients are unfairly discriminated against by insurance providers. The insurance industry must act now and start listening to people with a history of cancer and the assurances of their doctors . By taking people's individual circumstances into account when assessing risk, travel insurance companies could open themselves up to a huge growing market of potential customers.
Cancer drugs recently hit medical and health insurance news when it transpired the cost of a new wave could cripple the NHS.
