Private medical insurance is going from strength to strength, and the recent partnership between Pruhealth (a health insurance provider) and Boots (a major health and beauty retailer) really confirms this. Pruhealth PMI policies will now be sold through the 1,500 Boots outlets across the country.
The new policy deals will allow members of Boots Health Club (the loyalty programme) access to half-price health insurance premiums over the course of the first year. All customers will be encouraged to review their PMI options, and the role medical insurance can play in living healthily.
Supermarket and retail corporations using insurance companies to underwrite health insurance policies sold through their distribution networks is nothing new. Earlier this year, AXA PPP agreed a deal to underwrite Tesco health insurance.
The chief executive of Pruhealth, Shaun Mattison, reportedly commented: By teaming up with a trusted company like Boots, we aim to make private health insurance more accessible and affordable via the high street, and really begin to change people’s attitude to health and wellbeing.
