Dental health insurance can keep cost down

Mon, 29 Oct 2007

National Health Service dental care is simply not a possibility for the whole of the UK any longer. However, treatment doesn’t have to cost the earth, and there are a number of solutions to expensive dental cover .

One way of keeping dental costs down without getting private medical insurance or a dental plan is to travel abroad for cover. ‘Foreign fillings,’ as global dental care is called, is becoming more and more popular in the UK. Hundreds of thousands of UK consumers are seeking dental care abroad, using cheap flights to help their discounts.

Other options to reduce the cost of private dental care include dental health insurance and dental cash plans . Some insurance companies offer unlimited emergency dental cover. This year, Tesco Personal Finance have entered the dental insurance market, alongside AXA PPP healthcare.

The commercial director of AXA PPP healthcare, Fergus Craig, reportedly commented: "Tesco Dental Insurance will be a big help to people who want to manage the cost of staying in good oral health. And if they should need emergency care, the cover will cushion them from painful dentists' bills. With a plan for patients who go NHS, and a plan for those who prefer to go private or to mix their NHS and private care, Tesco Dental Insurance should have a positive impact on the dental health of the nation."
