New Microsoft health website

Fri, 05 Oct 2007

A new Microsoft health website will store medical information online, creating enormous repercussions within the technology and healthcare industries. Other technology companies have moved into this industry, including Google.

The Microsoft HealthVault will store individual medical information, completely for free, in an encrypted database . The user will then have the option of what goes on record and who it is available to.

Microsoft has paired up with several other companies to develop the vault of health information. Google have designs to enter this market, but are yet to unveil specific plans. The future is likely to see personal medical health profiles online, influencing private medical insurance applications and a number of other health procedures.

Microsoft is calling for hospitals, health services and doctors to help develop web applications.
