Private health insurance getting a boost

Tue, 23 Oct 2007

According to a recent survey by the Association of British Insurers (ABI), more and more people are choosing private medical insurance to make certain that their families receive a decent level of healthcare and medical treatment, rather than rely on the National Health Service.

The ABI showed that Private Medical Insurance are becoming more popular. The ABI have shown that just over a million people have subscribed to personal PMI plans, an increase of 1.8 per cent on 2005 figures. In the near future, this figure is expected to soar.

The ABI Director of General Insurance and Health, Nick Starling, reportedly commented: "Private Medical Insurance offers people greater choice of treatment and other services for a wide range of medical conditions and injuries . It also takes pressure off the NHS, so by buying PMI, people are effectively reducing the burden on Britain’s hard-pressed health service. It is encouraging that more individuals are choosing to buy PMI for themselves and their families."
