New venture from health insurance company

The second largest health insurance company in the UK, PruHealth, is now looking to expand into the life insurance and protection industries, in a joint venture with the South African group Discovery.

The business venture is called Pru Protection Holdings. It is not the first time the two companies have worked together, for they co-sell private medical insurance policies through PruHealth.

Prudential are all set to launch 25 new protection plans that will cover numerous insurance field, including critical illness insurance, income protection insurance, disability insurance and life insurance . The group protection and corporate market are also targets.

The policies will be structured around a points system whereby customers will get reduced premiums for going to the gym, eating healthily and quitting smoking .
