Problems in insurance merger

Tue, 25 Sep 2007

The merger between two major companies is leading experts to question how insurance operations of the two are to be run. Despite an initially positive expectation, as many as 2000 jobs could now be on the line.

Reports on a merger between the over-50s insurance company and the AA, a deal worth six billion pounds, could cause thousands of jobs to be lost, and could also influence the trading relationships of insurance companies with the two firms.

The job losses are likely to be hardest felt by part-time AA employees. How the deal will impact on insurance firms remains to be seen. Gossip within the health insurance news network indicates that the number of insurers involved in the company will be reduced. Saga offers private medical insurance, health cash insurance and personal accident insurance . Some insurance policies may even be brought in-house.
