WPA top health insurance provider table

WPA, a health insurance firm based in Taunton, Somerset has been voted the most innovative health care provider in the UK at the Laing and Buisson National Awards ceremony.

The health company received the accolade due to one of their major initiatives, Mycancerdrugs. This initiative launched in May this year, attempted to increase public access to cancer drugs that the NHS are denying access to due to their cost.

WPA also received the award last year, but Mycancerdrugs is the first such insurance policy of its type on the planet.

The chief executive of WPA, Julian Stainton, reportedly commented: "It is hard for the general public to comprehend, let alone a cancer sufferer, that the all-embracing NHS in England - unlike Scotland - denies patients these incredibly effective new drugs that have the ability to defeat cancer. Mycancerdrugs allows the public to access the most effective drugs available.It is ironic that it falls to a medical insurer to highlight these inequalities of care in the United Kingdom."
