According to reports from America, some 7 per cent of citizens choose to get married for health insurance reasons. The findings indicate that medical insurance has joined companionship, love, and money on the list of reasons to get hitched.
A poll commissioned by the Kaiser Family Foundation found that 7 per cent of those surveyed had, or someone in their family had, decided to marry in the last year to obtain health care benefits.
The president of the Kaiser Family Foundation, Drew Altman, reportedly commented: "It's a small number, but a powerful result, because it shows how paying for health care is reflected not only in family budgets, but in life decisions."
In England the health insurance policy is a different animal. The National Health Service treats some patients, whilst other pay privately or take out private medical insurance .
