Cheap dental care abroad negates need for insurance

Fri, 11 Apr 2008

Rather than taking out a dental insurance policy of paying the costs of private dental care, more and more British people are travelling abroad to get their dental surgery done.

According to reports in the UK press, as many as 45,000 people went to foreign countries to seek out dental care, many of whom choosing Poland or Hungary .

This type of dental health tourism, which takes place outside the conventional National Health Service or private health insurance / private care domain, is soaring in popularity.

The British Dental Health Foundation have called for caution, due to the fact that many surgeries overseas may not operate the same level or quality of care as UK practices.
