According to a new study in the New England Journal of Medicine, internet giants Microsoft and Google are likely to change forever the face of the healthcare market.
Two of the leading experts in electronic health records have made it clear that both governments and health regulation authorities need to take notice of the two companies, who are pooling enormous amounts of sensitive patient data.
Dr. Mandl and Dr. Kohane made it clear that the internet-based patient data facilities are not covered under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, meaning both companies can hold and share medical data.
Both companies maintain that their services will allow people control over their healthcare .
