Health fears over future of National Health Service

According to a recent healthcare study, the majority of managers working in the National Health Service do not believe it will exist in its current, free state within 60 years.

To mark the first 60th anniversary of the NHS, a questionnaire was circulated to managers. Some 79 per cent did not believe that by 2068 the NHS would be free at the point of demand.

The poll was conducted by the Health Service Journal, who made it clear that they thought the NHS was not providing dental, nursing and medical care for all. They forecast a gloomy future of increasing privatisation, in which patients would be forced to meet top-up requirements using health insurance policies .

Managers remained satisfied in their jobs, however, with the majority wishing to stay for the remainder of their careers, largely due to the quality of the pension scheme.
