Health insurance smart card contract awarded

The German health insurance company Kaufmännische Krankenkasse has awarded their special insurance smart card contract to the Munich-based technology specialist Giesecke and Devrient. The snippet of health insurance news could one day influence the UK health insurance market .

The medical insurance smart cards include data relating to health insurance policies and the companies that provide them. The new insurance cards will be dispatched early next year to health insurance customers.

This type of electronic health insurance card will store data including name, address, date of birth, and detail of insurance coverage and supplementary charges. The insurance card will be very secure and takes health insurance into next-generation technology.
