Lowering private health insurance premiums

Mon, 02 Jun 2008

The popularity of private health insurance in the UK is soaring, both amongst individuals and employers who see it as a worthwhile perk for their employees. The rising incidence of superbugs, dirty hospitals and long waiting lists have driven private medical insurance up in popularity after a decade in decline.

However, private health insurance can still be expensive. Those that are particularly concerned over hospital cleanliness (a significant proportion according to a recent BUPA study), premium price may not be an issue. With the rising costs of living in the UK, it makes sense to keep medical insurance as cheap as possible whilst still being adequately covered.

Different insurance companies offer various policies, some of which may be of benefit to particular consumers. Restricting the illnesses covered by health insurance can lower premiums . Getting the cheapest premiums may not always be the most appropriate policy, experts advise.
