Wed, 21 May 2008

Tesco Health Insurance, the medical insurance arm of the supermarket giant, are offering customers 12 months of private health insurance for the cost of nine months cover.

The company, who recently celebrated their first birthday, are offering customers the chance of three months free insurance to start the policy .

The head of health insurance at Tesco, Jeremy Sutton, reportedly commented: "At the beginning of every year we all resolve to be healthier . This discount will encourage those to stick to their New Year resolutions. The offer will go along way towards helping people to meet their private healthcare needs, with early access to treatment from an experienced specialist, in privacy and comfort, at a time that’s convenient."

Tesco health insurance aimed to open up the market to new customers by reducing premiums, challenging the notion that private medical insurance was only for the rich.
