Private health insurance acquisition

Fri, 02 May 2008

Reports in the health insurance news indicate that an arm of Skipton Building Society group has purchased the self-pay specialist company Medical Care Direct.

Private Health Partnership will not be the parent company of MCD. PHP spokesman Jan Lawson reportedly commented: "The self-pay sector of the market has been growing 20% year on year for the last three years. The self-pay market fits naturally with a number of existing products such as high excess PMI ( private medical insurance ) policies. Also it can provide significant cost advantages for private individuals who are not covered by a PMI scheme."

How MCD will continue to conduct business remains to be seen, and the company may widen their services and develop their business further. Other medical insurance news indicates that private health insurance is growing in popularity in the UK.
