Health Insurance magazine get insurer agreement

Mon, 06 Oct 2008

Leading UK health insurance magazine, Health Insurance, is seeing some success to their ongoing campaign to force insurance companies with income protection offerings to publish claims statistics.

AXA, one of the largest names in the insurance industry, has become the latest to promise greater transparency relating to consumer income protection claims . AXA provide a protection account, and despite low business volume apparently agree that publishing claims stats are a good thing.

Protection marketing manager at AXA, Stuart Lawson, was reported in Health Insurance as saying: "Given the greater profile of stats in the industry – for life and critical [CI] – we see it as a good thing. AXA is very much into paying claims and publishing stats is something we are looking to do. Three to four years is when a book of business is large enough to make stats meaningful, which is why we are doing work on it now."
