Health insurance becoming more important

Mon, 29 Sep 2008

As reported earlier on in the month in the health insurance news, medical insurance as a job benefit is becoming more and more important for UK employees. Many value a health insurance policy directly below a pension at the top of a list of perks, and say that their employer should be somewhat responsible for their wellbeing.

Health insurance company BUPA reported that private medical insurance policies are increasing in popularity, despite the credit crunch. NHS waiting lists and hospital hygiene are thought to be further feeding desire for health insurance cover .

Ann Greenwood of BUPA was reported as commenting: "They want faster access to specialists and no waiting lists, but most of all they are concerned about hospital cleanliness, with almost three in every four citing clean hospitals as a key reason for buying PMI – up 8% on 2007."
