According to international health insurance news today, some 45.4 million Americans have no health insurance . The lack of insurance cover affects some 15.1 per cent of the population, according to statistics from the new National Health Interview Survey.
According to the interview, some 58.4 million people of all ages had not had any insurance cover for part of the year in the run up to the interview, and some 31.9 million had been uninsured for over a year.
The statistics were gathered from 32,700 respondents, and gave startling insight into health trends in the UK. The private medical insurance situation in the US is very different to the UK, because there is not National Health Service and those without medical insurance cover must pay for their healthcare .
