The bi-annual PruHealth Vitality Index, compiled by innovative health insurance company PruHealth, indicates a difference in what people consider the greatest health concerns faced by the nation, and what they consider the health concerns faced by themselves.
The Vitality Index tracks trends in stress, exercise, diet, health knowledge, smoking and medical check-ups. The study revealed that although obesity is the considered the greatest health issue, cancer is the largest individual health concern.
Lower on the list were stress (10 per cent) and depression (6 per cent). A poor diet and nutrition was seen as a large health concern for the nation by 19 per cent of UK adults, whilst just 8 per cent saw it as an individual health concern.
PruHealth provide a range of private medical insurance policies linked to diet, exercise and health .
