Health insurance news today reported the results of an independent review of National Health Service dentistry . The review weighs up the ongoing problems with access to NHS dentists .
The review included a look at how dentist’s income is linked with NHS patients, as opposed to private health insurance or dental plan holders, or private customers. The review also proposed to make dentists more accountable in providing long-lasting, high quality treatments.
A recently introduced plan was found to be unpopular with the dental profession and the public. According to reports, some 1.2 million less patients visited a dentist in England in the last two years, compared to before the reforms.
Many who do not have access to an NHS doctor choose dental plans, or have their dentistry covered by private medical insurance .
