The parent company of the MediCare International private health insurance business will buy the Bluefin Group Ltd. a subsidiary of major medical insurance company AXA PPP.
The acquisition, which remains subject to regulatory approval, will be conducted by SBJ Global Risks, an international insurance broker . Medicare International has been in operation since 1982, selling private medical insurance policies to expatriates all over the world.
The international health insurance market remains strong, with many expats commanding high salaries and requiring health insurance cover as part of their employment. In the event of ill health, international medical insurance covers healthcare costs and potentially the cost of repatriation to the UK.
