Isle of Man residents who wish to travel to the UK could have a health insurance guarantee under new proposals. Health Minister Eddie Teare has called for the scheme to be introduced before the UK reciprocal health agreement comes to an end. As of 1st April, Manx visitors to the UK will not be eligible for free healthcare treatment.
Mr. Teare highlighted fears that elderly residents will not be able to get medical insurance . He commented: "However, I do recognise that there will be some who will be unable to obtain cover at an affordable cost, or indeed obtain cover at all. I intend to bring forward a proposal to the March sitting of Tynwald which, if approved, would ensure that no person would be denied travel cover whilst they are enjoying a short tip in the United Kingdom."
Health insurance policies are available to UK consumers who wish to get private medical insurance cover and get treatment when and where they desire.
