The House of Commons will hear a plea to keep the Isle of Man’s healthcare agreement with the UK open, according to health insurance news today. Currently, the reciprocal health agreement is due to end on the 1st April.
From this date, resident of the Isle of Man will have to take out an insurance policy in case of illness on the mainland. However, residents will still get free emergency medical insurance treatment. However, any admission to hospital will be billed.
Labour MP Andrew Mackinlay called for the decision to be reviewed. He called for publication of full cost figured, and said that ministers from around the country needed to get together to discuss the issue.
