Despite falling profits in some sectors in Ireland last year, Aviva are thought to be the fastest-growing health insurance company in Europe. The Irish insurance wing, formerly known as Hibernian, reported falling profits in all sectors apart from medical insurance, where profits more than doubled.
Aviva, who are making huge inroads in European insurance with their rebranding exercise now has 250,000 health insurance customers in Ireland. They gained over 50,000 last year. The company claimed that they were the quickest-growing private medical insurer in Europe.
Despite the health insurance positive news, other insurance sectors were hit hard by the challenging business environment. Aviva has pursued a mammoth cost-cutting exercise throughout the company.
