Insurance provider RIAS, which specialises in policies for the over 50s, has launched a new product designed specifically for personal accidents . Called the Broken Bones Cash Plan, it offers a lump sum payment of GBP400 if a bone is broken when you have an accident .
This means that, for a premium of only GBP15.96 for a year per person, which amounts to GBP1.33 each month, the health insurance cover will provide a GBP400 cash payment. The use of the payment is not limited at all, but could be helpful with such things as travel costs if you are unable to drive due to your injury .
The insurance plan, which has no excess, no medical and no limit to the amount of new claims that can be made during the policy, can be taken out for an individual or to cover a couple, also has no maximum age limit and is available to both new and current customers of RIAS Home Insurance as an additional cover option.
With an estimated 7.7 million people expected to suffer a bone fracture sometime in their life once they have reached the age of 50, this new policy is timely.
