Insurance giant Aviva has introduced a new online resource for advisers, which it hopes will ease the application process for critical illness, life and income protection insurance. The move is integral to the insurer’s commitment to minimise non-disclosure within the industry.
Aviva, which recently reported a two per cent year-on-year rise in the payment of health insurance and critical illness claims, which means that up to 93 per cent of all their critical illness claims are now paid, has made the Adviser Underwriting Centre available through its Aviva for Advisers website.
The centre will offer full information for intermediaries who are advising a client regarding a protection proposal, and provides guidance on the kind of medical evidence Aviva will need and details on the decision-making process for clients with a medical condition .
The online resource will also feature a medical learning zone with information about the human body and medical conditions, as well as details on how these can effect underwriting decisions. It is hoped the centre will allow advisers to develop relevant medical knowledge and better assist customers with the completion of application forms.
The company has also recently reported that the number of claims declined because of non-disclosure of medical facts at the outset of the policy had halved to 1 per cent.
